After missing out on the last tea season, Bi-Lu Creek is officially back! Last year, due to excessive rainfall in July and August, the Bi-Lu Creek winter crop didn’t quite meet my personal standards, so I skipped it entirely. To be fair, when I say “didn’t meet standards,” we did find some decent quality. However, with a wholesale cost already hitting $3,000 NTD, it just didn’t live up to what a $4,000+ NTD retail tea should be. After weighing the options, I decided to pass.
But this year’s spring tea? It’s a completely different story. The cost is the same, but this time, it is worth every single penny. It has that deep high-mountain resonance (gaoshan yun), a brilliant aroma in the tea soup, and incredible refinement in texture. Judged by the standard of a $4,500 NTD per jin tea, it doesn’t just meet expectations—it completely blows them out of the water. Personally, I think it easily outperforms last year’s spring tea.
