Hey tea lovers, our best-value high-mountain autumn tea is here! The season’s first batch comes straight from the Xinjayiang (新佳陽) tea area in Lishan (梨山). If you’ve ever had doubts about autumn teas, this is the perfect brew to test the waters!
A lot of people associate autumn tea with a bitter, astringent taste, but that’s strictly true for lowland teas—high-mountain tea is a completely different story. The elevation remains high, and the cool winds alongside the sharp temperature drops between day and night are still very much present. While overall conditions might not match spring or winter, properly managed tea gardens can absolutely produce high-quality teas in the autumn.
Plus, weather conditions this year were light-years ahead of last year. In late July last year, torrential downpours in Lishan completely ruined the late-July/early-August harvest. This year, June and July brought ideal weather, followed by eight consecutive sunny days in early August. It’s been years since we’ve seen harvest conditions this fantastic.
How’s the quality? It hits all the right notes: a rich high-mountain character, a lingering sweet aftertaste, no bitterness or astringency, and lovely fruity undertones. Its only real drawback is that it lacks a bit of the depth and delicate complexity found in spring or winter teas. It won’t beat out a top-shelf spring tea, but it easily outperforms any mid-range batch. At NT$2,200 per catty, the value is unbeatable. We remain super confident in our autumn tea. If you’ve never tried an autumn high-mountain tea before, we welcome you to give this one a shot!
