Located in Mingjian Township, Nantou County, at an elevation of 200 to 400 meters, the Mingjian Township tea region is a major hub of tea production in Taiwan. With a tea cultivation area spanning 2,250 hectares, it is the largest tea region in Taiwan by area. The local tea is best known as “Songbo Changqing Cha” (Evergreen Tea).
Mingjian Township ranks among the top in Taiwan for both tea production volume and cultivation area, and local teas are renowned for their excellent quality and accessible prices. The Songboling area produces the highest volume of tea here, and the late President Chiang Ching-kuo personally named the region’s tea “Songbo Changqing Cha.”
The main tea varietals grown in the Mingjian Township tea region include JinXuan, CuiYu, Sijichun, and Qingxin Oolong. Known for large-scale cultivation and machine harvesting, the tea here offers stable quality at affordable prices, attracting numerous consumers and tea merchants every harvest season.
Directions: Take the Mingjian Interchange off Freeway No. 2 and transfer to County Highway 150. From the Wangtian Interchange on Freeway No. 1, cross Dadu Bridge, take Provincial Highway 14 through Fenyuan, and follow Nantou County Highway 150 to reach Songboling. For public transportation, get off at Tianzhong Station and take the Changhua Bus to Songboling.
