Hello to all our tea enthusiasts! The new Shanlinxi Fanzaitian spring tea is finally here. I personally visited Fanzaitian three times this season. The first two trips were dampened by rain, resulting in tea that didn’t meet our standards. It wasn’t until the third trip that I found this gem: perfectly tender leaves with flawless oxidation.

Why Fanzaitian?

Don’t let the name fool you—just because it lacks the “fame” of Longfengxia doesn’t mean it’s second-tier. In the Shanlinxi tea system, Fanzaitian is a powerhouse. Sitting at altitudes up to 1600m, its east-facing slopes often receive better sunlight than Longfengxia. The soil is rich and the bushes are young and vibrant.

The Power of Selection

The real advantage of Fanzaitian? Volume. Because the output is several times larger than Longfengxia, I had the luxury of tasting over 30 different batches. While the first two trips yielded tea that was either too bitter or poorly processed due to the weather, the third trip—harvested under clear skies—delivered excellence.

The Verdict

Out of 11 batches sampled on that final day, this one stood out after three rounds of blind tasting. It is smooth, zero bitterness, and carries a stunning orchid aroma. At this price point, the value is unbeatable. In fact, I’m so confident in this tea that I encourage you to brew it side-by-side with your Longfengxia or Fushoushan. If you don’t think it holds its own, I’ll take it back—no questions asked.
