Lishan Winter Tea Harvest Weather

Northern Taiwan has been experiencing rain for a straight week recently, and many tea friends from the north have been messaging me to ask if the winter tea will be affected. Rest assured, everyone—Lishan, Heping District in Taichung, and Ren’ai Township in Nantou have all enjoyed great weather over the past few days, creating ideal conditions for harvesting and tea making.

One thing to note is that it rained on the afternoon and evening of October 7th. Areas including Lishan, the vicinity of Fushoushan Farm, HuaGung, Cuiluan, Cingjing, Qilai, and Cuifeng all experienced significant rainfall. There were also scattered light showers on the afternoon of the 8th. My purchasing advice is to skip the 8th because, with the rain on the 7th, the soil still held a lot of moisture on the 8th. Even with clear daytime weather, the quality of the fresh tea leaves would still be slightly compromised. The 9th is worth considering. From the 10th until today (the 13th), everything has been smooth sailing with completely clear and sunny weather.

Cuiluan, Malieba, and Xinjiyang have all entered peak harvest season. By the way, I tasted another 4 batches of Lishan tea today, and the winter tea is really starting to hit its stride! Stay tuned, tea friends!
