Tea Garden Fertilizer Washed Away by Heavy Rains

Without enough rain during spring harvest, the fertilizer wouldn’t dissolve properly. But in August and September, the rain was so heavy it washed all the fertilizer away—our tea farmers are in big trouble now~😭

Many tea farmers apply fertilizer around the autumn harvest, but the August rains were so heavy that the fertilizer washed away, forcing them to reapply at the end of the month. Then, after another torrential downpour the day before yesterday washed it away again, they’ve had to bite the bullet and apply it yet another time. Before even making a dime off the winter harvest, they’re already hundreds of thousands of NT dollars in the hole just for fertilizer.

When inspecting the winter tea crops, two key things to look at are whether there’s enough fertilizer and whether the tea plant root systems have been damaged. These will be the deciding factors for this year’s winter tea quality!
