Lishan Tea Enthusiast Question: The pricing of Lishan tea on the market is quite chaotic. You can find options online for NT$400 per 600 g, as well as premium ones costing tens of thousands of NT dollars per 600 g. I know online channels often have lower overhead, but what is a reasonable price range when buying from a tea shop?
What is a Reasonable Price for Lishan Tea? Starting with Wholesale Prices
Liao Chang Xing Explanation: The price of Lishan tea is closely tied to its altitude. Fushoushan Farm sits at an elevation of over 2,300 meters, so its tea naturally commands the highest price, typically starting above NT$7,000 per 600 g on the market. Private tea gardens located right next to the farm are slightly more affordable, with wholesale prices around NT$3,000 per 600 g. Meanwhile, the Songmao Tribe at elevations between 1,600 and 1,900 meters and the Xinyajiang tea region at 1,500 to 2,050 meters generally have wholesale prices ranging from NT$1,800 to NT$3,000 per 600 g. As for Cuiluan, located on the back side of Lishan, prices range from NT$1,700 to NT$2,500 per 600 g.
Please note that the prices mentioned above are all wholesale prices for the spring and winter seasons, with spring teas being relatively more affordable and winter teas commanding higher prices. Additionally, exceptional quality teas may cost even more.
Reasonable Retail Prices for Lishan Tea
Once tea merchants wholesale tea from tea farmers or processing plants, factors like refinement costs, operating expenses, and profit margins make up the final price for consumers. Therefore, finding Lishan tea for NT$400 per 600 g is simply hard to believe. Teas priced at just a few hundred NT dollars are difficult to find even for autumn harvests. As for a reasonable retail price for Lishan tea, adding 50% to 100% to the wholesale cost will typically give you the price you’ll see at a tea shop.
We hope this information helps you better understand Lishan tea pricing and allows you to choose the best tea for your taste.
