A cold wave has hit over the past couple of days, and frost has started forming in the high mountain tea regions. While frost isn’t anything out of the ordinary up in the mountains, tea farmers still can’t let their guard down when a cold snap arrives. The tea plants inevitably suffer some frost damage, especially young ones that are only a year or two old, which are very susceptible to dying from frost. Because of this, farmers still have to put in the hard work to properly protect their crops whenever a cold wave rolls in.
Compared to the farmers, tea merchants are actually quite happy when a cold wave hits because cold weather makes people want to drink tea, providing a nice boost in sales. For instance, we’ve had a nice little rush of orders over the last couple of days, with shipping volume up by half compared to usual. Truly a heartfelt thank you to everyone for your support!
Tea farmers in both Cuifeng and Lishan reported frost in their tea gardens over the past couple of days, fortunately without serious damage. The weather forecast indicates another cold wave arriving after December 21, with potentially even lower temperatures. Hats off to all the hardworking tea farmers out there. Everyone, please remember to bundle up and stay warm. And thank you once again to all our tea lovers for your continued support!
