Please let me know if you have them, thank you!
Chang Hsing Tea: Hello Mr. Chin. I’m very sorry, but Chang Hsing Tea does not sell Chinese green tea. According to Taiwan’s laws and regulations, only dark teas (heicha) from China may be imported into Taiwan. Green tea, black tea, oolong tea, white tea, and yellow tea are strictly prohibited. You won’t find Chinese green tea legally available on the market in Taiwan.
If you wish to import Chinese green tea, shipping it directly from China is illegal. A few years ago, some tea merchants imported mainland Chinese tea and declared it as dark tea during customs clearance. The Taiwanese government has caught onto this and stepped up inspections in recent years, making it very difficult to import using this method. Unless brought in by travelers in small personal quantities, any imported Chinese green tea on the market is illegal.
By the way, Taiwan also produces Longjing and Biluochun teas. They are grown in Sanxia District, New Taipei City. The tea quality is exceptional and easily rivals Chinese green tea. Mr. Chin, you might want to give them a try!
▲ Due to Taiwanese legal restrictions, Chinese green tea cannot be imported. As a result, it is quite difficult to buy Chinese green tea in Taiwan.
