Caopingtou Tea Region

Located in Tongfu Village, Xinyi Township, the Caopingtou tea region sits at an elevation of 1,200 to 1,700 meters. Tea cultivation was introduced here in the 1980s, and today the area is home to over 20 tea factories. Spanning approximately 50 hectares, the region produces the exceptional “Yushan Tea,” a top-tier high mountain tea.

The local tea varieties are predominantly Qingxin Oolong, processed using mainstream methods such as organic fertilization, hand-harvesting, light fermentation, and light roasting. Caopingtou tea is renowned for its sweet aftertaste, mellow character, and smooth mouthfeel. Harvesting mainly takes place during three seasons: spring tea in May, autumn tea in September, and winter tea in early November.

In 1993, the government assisted local tea farmers in establishing sightseeing tea plantations. The “Caopingtou Yushan Sightseeing Tea Plantation” has since become a popular attraction in Xinyi Township. Aside from the bustling crowds during every tea season, visitors come to escape the summer heat, admire the autumn maples, and view the winter cherry blossoms, making this a successful model of agricultural tourism. The sightseeing plantation not only draws tourists to boost farmers’ incomes but also effectively promotes Caopingtou tea.
