Pinglin Tea Region

Located in New Taipei City, Taiwan, Pinglin is part of the Wenshan tea region. With an elevation ranging from 200 to 650 meters, the area produces Baozhong tea and Oriental Beauty tea. Spanning 800 hectares of tea plantations with an annual production of approximately 500,000 metric tons, it is the largest tea-producing region in northern Taiwan.

Situated in the southeastern part of the Taipei Basin, Pinglin has a history of tea cultivation dating back to its early development, building a rich tea culture along the way. The local Pinglin Tea Museum is a must-visit destination for tea enthusiasts. Known for its abundant production of Baozhong tea, Pinglin leads Taiwan in both quality and quantity, thanks to its ideal environment and advanced tea-making techniques. In addition to Baozhong, Pinglin also produces Oriental Beauty tea, which is widely loved.

In the early days, most of Pinglin’s tea was sold to Shiding. Later, with the opening of the Beiyi Highway, distribution gradually shifted to Taipei City and direct local sales. Because Pinglin is located within the Feitsui Reservoir watershed, the local environment remains well-preserved, making its tea extremely popular. “Pinglin Baozhong Tea” has become one of the most renowned teas in Taiwan.
