Nanshan & Siji Tea Region

Datong Township in Yilan County is a renowned region for high-mountain fruits and vegetables. Traveling up along the Lanyang River via Provincial Highway 7 甲, you’ll be greeted by lush fields of alpine produce all along the way. At the highest points of Datong Township—Nanshan and Siji Villages—in addition to mountain vegetables, premium tea leaves are also produced. This is the origin of the famous Datong Nanshan and Siji teas.

Siji and Nanshan Villages in Datong Township sit at an elevation of approximately 900 to 1,200 meters. Along the highway, besides vast cabbage fields, neatly manicured tea plantations can be seen dotting the slopes. Though tea from Nanshan and Siji Villages may not be widely known, its quality is exceptional. Aside from local tea makers selling their own products, producers from Lishan and other high-mountain tea regions frequently come here to purchase fresh tea leaves.
