Cueifeng Tea Plantation in Winter

Over the past couple of days, the store manager headed up to the Cuifeng tea region. Just like in Lishan, the tea gardens receiving dedicated care have already applied their winter base fertilizer. Now, it’s all about letting the tea trees slowly absorb the nutrients and build up enough energy so the spring tea will burst with incredible vitality.

During this trip to Cuifeng, I came across a few exceptionally well-managed tea gardens where the fertilizer usage is truly astounding. While others might just toss a handful of chemical fertilizer and call it a day, these growers use expensive, thick soybean meal fertilizer. On top of that, the farm owner mentioned he will apply supplementary fertilizer another 3 times before the spring harvest. Don’t underestimate all this hard work in tea garden management—each bag of soybean meal fertilizer weighs 30 kg, and a single hectare requires 200 bags. It’s grueling work, and that’s not even counting the additional top-dressing. The store manager truly admires these hardworking tea growers.

I once heard a Cuifeng tea owner say that his fertilizer cost for a ‘single season’ alone reaches 400,000 to 500,000 NTD. Folks, this is how premium tea is made! This is also why, in the same Cuifeng tea region, some tea factories struggle for business while others have customers lining up to buy. Great tea is simply the result of hard work and sparing no expense on top-quality fertilizer.

There’s no tea to harvest in Cuifeng during the winter, but the scenery is still fantastic. I’m sharing some beautiful photos of the Cuifeng tea region in winter with everyone!
