Bought the finest ShanLinXi tea but not quite sure how to brew it? To help you fully enjoy the taste of ShanLinXi tea, we’ve put together a simple brewing guide. Just follow these 4 steps to bring out the best flavor.
How to Brew ShanLinXi Tea
Before you begin, prepare a porcelain gaiwan (or teapot), a tea scoop, tea cups, 100°C hot water, and 6–8g of ShanLinXi tea leaves. Here are the steps:
1. Warm the teaware: Rinse the gaiwan, scoop, and cups with hot water. This cleans the vessels and raises their temperature so the water doesn’t cool down too quickly, ensuring optimal brewing quality.
2. Add 6g of ShanLinXi tea into the gaiwan, then pour in 100ml of hot water.
3. Steep the leaves for 3 minutes. After 3 minutes, use the scoop to transfer the tea into your cup and enjoy.
4. If you prefer a stronger taste, you can adjust the amount of tea and steeping time: use 8g of tea and steep for 2 minutes.
When drinking, first take in the aroma, then savor the taste, appreciating the unique flavor profile of ShanLinXi tea. Premium ShanLinXi tea should have a lingering aroma, a rich and sweet aftertaste, and remain smooth without turning bitter even after prolonged steeping.
Bonus – Cold-Brew ShanLinXi Tea: Prepare a pitcher and tea leaves. Use 1g of tea leaves per 200ml of water, add room-temperature water, and chill in the refrigerator for 8 hours before serving.
