Sancengping tea originates from Zhushan Township, Nantou County, near the beautiful Shizitou Mountain. The tea here is well-known for its distinct aroma and exceptional quality, representing a premier origin in the ShanLinXi tea category. The area primarily produces lightly fermented oolong, along with small amounts of black tea and heavily fermented oolong, and very limited quantities of green and white tea.
Overview of Sancengping Tea Plantations
Sancengping tea plantations are situated at altitudes between 1,300 and 1,750 meters. Although the altitude is slightly lower than LongFengXia, the exceptionally favorable environment yields a tea with a rich aroma and smooth mouthfeel. Under optimal weather conditions, the quality of Sancengping tea is on par with LongFengXia. Much like nearby Fanzitian tea, Sancengping tea enjoys a stellar reputation among tea merchants for its high cost-performance ratio, priced NT$200 to NT$400 cheaper than LongFengXia tea at the same altitude.

Market Pricing
Retail prices for spring and winter teas range between NT$1,500 and NT$2,300, while summer and autumn teas range from NT$1,000 to NT$1,600. Premium Sancengping tea, when the plantations are properly managed and favored by good weather, can sometimes rival LongFengXia tea. A significant portion of these high-quality teas is often passed off as LongFengXia or Lishan tea, fetching over NT$3,000 per 600 g.
Liao Chang Xing's Review of Sancengping Tea
The tea quality is every bit as good as LongFengXia. Between 2015 and 2024, Sancengping tea outperformed LongFengXia on several occasions. Sancengping tea boasts incredible flavor intensity, and even better, at the same altitude, its cost is NT$200 to NT$400 cheaper than LongFengXia, making it a high-value origin highly favored by tea merchants. The current challenge for Sancengping tea lies in its consistency. With improved fertilizer quality and harvest management, Sancengping might just become the top contender in ShanLinXi tea in the future.
