Ruifeng tea is cultivated in Ruifeng Village, Meishan Township, Chiayi County. Known for its superior quality and exquisite craftsmanship, it stands as one of the representative origins of Alishan tea.
Ruifeng Tea Crafted to the Highest Standards
Tea gardens in Ruifeng Village sit at altitudes ranging from 600 to 1,300 meters. Though not exceptionally high, the region’s favorable natural environment allows its tea to reach top-tier standards in both quality and yield within Alishan. Ruifeng tea’s greatest advantage lies in its concentration of quality tea factories and active participation in tea competitions, placing its craftsmanship among the very best in Taiwan. Local factories in Meishan Township have claimed top honors in tea competitions year after year.

Another advantage of Ruifeng tea is that it is arguably the best region in all of Taiwan for JinXuan Oolong. Generally speaking, cultivating the JinXuan cultivar at altitudes exceeding 1,000 meters is less economically viable, so fewer farmers grow it. Yet, Ruifeng still features many JinXuan tea gardens at 1,000 to 1,300 meters, giving Ruifeng JinXuan Oolong a more pronounced high-mountain character than other regions.
Market Prices for Ruifeng Tea
The retail price for spring and winter Ruifeng tea ranges from NT$1,400 to NT$2,000, while summer and fall harvests range from NT$800 to NT$1,400. For JinXuan Oolong, spring and winter harvests retail between NT$1,000 and NT$1,800, and other seasons range from NT$800 to NT$1,400. Machine-harvested teas can be found for as low as NT$600 per 600 g.
Liao Chang Xing's Review of Ruifeng Tea
An exceptional origin averaging 70 points with a peak of 80. Ruifeng tea boasts a high production volume and consistent tea-making expertise; visiting a few factories makes it easy to find top-notch tea. The downside of Ruifeng tea is that some tea gardens suffer from severe aging. Due to pricing constraints, fertilizer quality and plantation management fall short of areas like Renai Township and Lishan, resulting in a slight gap in aroma and lingering aftertaste. However, compared to other Alishan tea regions, Ruifeng tea still ranks among the best—particularly its JinXuan Oolong, which is arguably the finest in Taiwan.
