JinXuan 27 is a bottled tea beverage launched by FamilyMart. It uses Taiwan’s unique JinXuan tea variety, crafted with slow roasting to deliver natural sweetness and floral aromas. It is called JinXuan 27 because JinXuan tea’s original experimental number was 27.
What is JinXuan 27 tea?
A tea beverage launched by FamilyMart, made with Taiwan Tea No. 12 (JinXuan) as its raw material and finished with slow-roasting. JinXuan tea was cross-bred from the paternal “Yingzhi Hongxin” and maternal “Tainong No. 8” varieties. The name JinXuan comes from the grandmother of Wu Chen-tuo, the former director of the Tea Research and Extension Station. Known for its sweet floral aroma, JinXuan is Taiwan’s second-largest tea tree variety in terms of production.
Why is it called JinXuan 27?
JinXuan tea is a tea tree variety bred by the Taiwan Tea Research and Extension Station in 1981, officially designated as Taiwan Tea No. 12. Because its early experimental code was 2027, it also earned the nickname “Ah-27” (27仔). FamilyMart’s JinXuan 27 gets its name from this origin.
What does JinXuan 27 taste like?
JinXuan 27 carries on the characteristic flavor of JinXuan tea, featuring a bright aroma and a smooth, mellow mouthfeel. It is well-suited for tea beginners or female consumers, making it a very convenient choice for a drink on the go. However, it does have a drawback: the body is relatively light, and the aftertaste (hui gan) is somewhat weak. Those who are used to brewing loose-leaf tea at home might find the flavor a bit mild.
