Bihu Tea Region

The Bihu tea area is located in Meishan Township, Chiayi County, at an altitude of 700 to 1,200 meters. It is home to the renowned Bihu Mountain Tourist Tea Garden, a popular spot not only for tea tasting but also for enjoying sea of clouds and sunrise views.

▼ This is a major tea-producing area in Meishan Township, facing the Ruifeng, Ruili, and Taihing tea areas across the mountains. Compared to the aforementioned tea areas, the Bihu tea area faces east and enjoys better sunlight, resulting in a high yield of quality tea. Being close to the Taiping tea area and sharing a similar elevation, the manager feels there is little difference in tea quality between the two. The primary tea cultivars are also Qingxin Oolong and JinXuan.

One downside, somewhat similar to the Taihing tea area, is the significant variation in quality between high- and low-altitude tea gardens. Additionally, many tea gardens are interplanted with betel nut trees, making the overall quality less consistent.

Spring tea is harvested in April, and winter tea in October and November. Ershui tea, summer tea, autumn tea, and black tea are also available.

Directions: Take Chiayi County Township Road 151. The road is a bit narrow, but the road conditions are quite good.

Manager’s Review: Both Qingxin Oolong and JinXuan teas are exceptional, though the value for money isn’t the highest. ▼ At the top, Bihu Mountain Tourist Tea Garden offers stunning views where you can enjoy tea and meals while taking in the entire Alishan tea region.
