Located in Ren’ai Township, Nantou, the Cingjing tea region is famous not only for Cingjing Farm but also for its exceptional high mountain environment that produces some of Taiwan’s finest Cingjing high mountain tea. The region sits at elevations ranging from 1,400 to 2,100 meters.
Cingjing tea region elevations range from 1,400 to 2,100 meters
With tea plantations nestled between 1,400 and 2,100 meters, Cingjing high mountain tea boasts remarkably consistent quality thanks to the high altitude, the year-round chilly breezes from Hehuanshan, excellent plantation management, and advanced tea-making equipment. We consider Cingjing to be among the top five high mountain tea regions in all of Taiwan.
Tea production in the Cingjing region is relatively limited. The main plantations are located behind Cingjing Farm, along the Lixing Industrial Road, in Cuifeng, and on the slopes below Provincial Highway 14 甲, with the highest points at Songgang and Meifeng. In addition to these areas, tea from nearby regions such as Wushe Gaofeng, Datongshan tea region, DongYanShan tea region, and Lushan tea region is often sold under the Cingjing tea name. The tea from the highest points of the Cingjing region—the Songgang tea region and the Meifeng tea region (NTU Experimental Forest)—offers a wonderfully lingering throat finish. Both of these areas sit at an altitude of 2,100 meters.
Flavor profile and reviews of Cingjing high mountain tea
It’s excellent, easily ranking among the top five tea regions in Taiwan. Local tea factories generally maintain a solid B+ standard, and plantation management is top-notch. Combined with the ideal altitude and the crisp mountain winds from Hehuanshan, Cingjing tea has a very high chance of delivering a great harvest. The only downside is that the tea is relatively pricey (excluding tea brought in from neighboring areas), which is a common drawback of tourist tea regions, making the overall value-for-money slightly lower.
