JinXuan is one of Taiwan’s four major tea tree varieties, cultivated from the south to the north. Among them, the Alishan area boasts the largest cultivation and the finest quality, delivering exceptional performance in both quantity and quality when it comes to Alishan JinXuan tea.
Introduction to Alishan JinXuan Tea
Most of the Alishan tea region is located in Chiayi County near the Tropic of Cancer, long recognized as a high-quality tea-producing area. In recent years, tea plantations have shifted from flatlands to high mountains, elevating quality even further. The soil, climate, and rainfall of the Alishan tea region make it exceptionally well-suited for JinXuan tea, establishing it as the largest production area for JinXuan tea in Taiwan. Alishan JinXuan tea has consequently become a renowned Taiwanese tea, highly sought after by tea lovers.
Alishan JinXuan tea is primarily produced in the Meishan and Zhuqi townships. Here, elevations generally exceed 1,000 meters, allowing the harvested Alishan JinXuan tea to possess both distinct floral varietal notes and high-mountain character. The signature milky aroma unique to JinXuan tea is even more pronounced here. Furthermore, due to the high-mountain environment, the tea leaves grow at a slower pace, resulting in a richer pectin content and lower bitterness and astringency.
Alishan JinXuan tea is typically harvested across four seasons, with spring and winter yielding the finest quality. To maintain top-tier quality, tea farmers often forgo the summer and autumn harvests. Additionally, local government-held tea competitions continually elevate tea-making standards. Alishan JinXuan tea is truly synonymous with premium Taiwanese tea.
